I was rubbish at sport in school (not helped by teachers who didn't want to spend anytime with me) so, when, at the age of 35 I was asked if I wanted to play Women's touch rugby, I wasn't too sure. I love watching rugby but playing rugby, doesn't that hurt?
Luckily I turned up for the first day of training and am glad I did. Touch rugby doesn't invovle any physical contact (you just touch the opposing player) but it is great fun, brilliant exercise and a great way to make friends.
I would recommend it to anybody. And if you have a boyfriend/husband, you can get him invovled as there are lots of mixed teams around. As the nights get lighter a few girls are going to get together to have a run around and coach anybody that wants to get invovled. We would then point them in the direction of the many tournaments across the UK like those run by www.touchrugby.co.uk that they can sign up for.
I love to hear if any girls want to have a go - we are trying to get as many as we can into the sport.
