    Training to increase stamina

    Does anyone know a class that will increase my stamina, I'm training for a half marathon and want to do things other than running.

    hiya im a member of fitness first and go 2 a class called body attack. its cardio and you can do it at your own level to challenge your self each time. its great!!!! its really simple moves to good music and really addictive. i also like long distance running but get bored of just running to train but i can definately say this class has increased all my fitness levels. elly xxx

    I agree with Elly, Body Attack does just what it says on the can. I teach the programme at Fitness First (maybe I know you Elly) and I love it. My fitness levels have increased and I've dropped just short of a stone in weight. Give it a go and let us know what you think.......

    If you're training for your first half mara, I would also recommend incorporating some core strength exercises (with a swiss ball) into your training...when you're running longer distances, you need really strong back/abs to keep you upright/strong in the last few kms. Also, work on your hip flexors...you need them to keep lifting your legs...one foot after the other!
